Save CAL Pilots: "An Independent Voice For All Continental and United Pilots"
 Welcome!

Please feel free to browse our website. We are continually updating news, information, and
opinions expressed by Continental pilots. We welcome input from the United pilot group as well.
We are all in this together!

We start the day working for the combined airline called United Airlines. We are sure most Continental employees feel disappointed in the loss of the Continental name. We all did a fantastic job of going from "worst to first" as Gordon Bethune called it. We should all have pride in a job well done. While we can reminisce about Continental's past, we must bring that same professionalism and hard work to this merged operation. Please be safe and above all good luck to everyone at Continental.

NOTICE:

On the last day of November, Continental Flight 86 will arrive in Newark from Shanghai. When the crew accepts their clearance to the gate, it will mark the last time we utter “Continental” on our radios. While we will experience mixed emotions with the retirement of our proud call sign, our brand and our heritage lives on. The Air Carrier Certificate employed by legacy United Airlines (UALA011A) will cease to operate at 06:00 Central time (12:00Z) on 11/30/11. All legacy Continental and legacy United flights will operate using the certificate currently employed by Continental (CALA014A). Both legacy airlines will file flight plans and operate with “United” flight numbers.

We have received emails asking for the identities of those who are running this website. While we would like to tell you who we are, we feel the facts presented on this website should be enough. We pride ourselves in reporting facts as they are reported. That's more than our union does. Our union seems to have a talent for keeping information from our pilot group. Contract 02 is the most recent damaging example. One reason for staying anonymous is the possibility of personal attacks from not only the union (ALPA visits our site daily), but the company as well.  We report the truth! We collect factual information and add it to our library for visitors to browse. We do not change anything. Some feel without a face to go with the site, it loses credibility. Take, for example, Operation Orange which operates anonymously, yet we have pilots believing their opinions. This site is no different. If you would rather be treated like a mushroom by the union (kept in the dark and fed BULLSHIT), then please don't bother to visit this website. If you feel the need for factual information, we welcome your continuing support! The more information you have will only help you decide which way to vote.

Coming soon:
Did you ever wonder where your union dues money goes? We will start publishing the "LM2" filings for ALPA National. An LM2 filing is a tax return for the union. You will be amazed how much money your union officials make at your expense! Our union refuses to make these reports available to our membership, so we will!

Attention CAL pilots:

Taken from the ALPA code of ethics:

"He will not publish articles, give interviews, or permit his name to be used in any manner likely to bring discredit to another pilot, the airline industry, the profession, or ALPA."

We guess the rules don't apply to Pierce, Baron, Cook, Introligator, and the rest on the dark side. Good job on unity building! We are guessing divide and conquer is the way to represent our pilots.

Commentary:

Please do not believe everything you are hearing from Jay Pierce and those telling stories about the IAH reps. Jay Pierce and his cronies are currently in personal attack mode working to destroy the representation of half of this pilot group. Pierce realizes he cannot move forward with his agenda without the support of half the pilot group. He has decided to destroy those who stand in his way. Jay Pierce's defeat for First Vice President at national has clouded his vision for the true responsibilities as MEC Chairman. He will stop at nothing to personally destroy the IAH reps to further his agenda. Please remember Jay Pierce's history with management. Can you trust his version of what happened? Can you trust Jayson Baron and Tara Cook?  Can you trust Eric Introligator? Can you trust your union in general? If you are interested in the facts, please contact the IAH reps for further explanation. Just remember, the IAH reps are true reps. They are fighting for you. They are telling the truth. Can you say the same for Pierce and his cronies?

Jay Pierce lost his bid for first vice president at ALPA national. The only thing left for him now is to follow in Tom Stivala's footsteps to UAL management. Before he does, he will sell this pilot group another crappy contract to show his loyalty to UAL management. Make sure you mark your calendars. You heard it here first!

_____________________________________________

The results are in. Prater and Pierce are acting like sore losers. Prater drops the "F" bomb on a IAH rep after the election. That shows real class Captain Prater! IAH Reps personal lives being invaded. Unity in the toilet!  What is the end game here? Who is to blame? Commentary has been posted on the News page.

ALPA BOD Election results:

October 13, 2010 - The ALPA Board of Directors elected Capt. Lee Moak of Delta for President and Capt. Sean Cassidy of Alaska Airlines for First Vice-President. Capt. Bill Couette of American Eagle was reelected Vice-President Administration/Secretary, and Capt. Randy Helling of Delta was reelected Vice-President—Finance/Treasurer. Terms to begin January 1, 2011.

Apparently John Prater was in a fight to the death over the lead position at ALPA. It took several rounds of voting before it came to a conclusion.  Jay Pierce threw his hat in the ring for First Vice President just two days ago. This was after he stated he would not seek a national seat several times and  at a meeting held at LEC 170. We wonder why he changed his mind. Could it be he is a liar, or is it that he is a politician first and never a representative of pilots. What else is Jay Pierce lying about? As you can see from the results above, Jay Pierce did not prevail. All we can say is thank God! Of course this means we are still stuck with a politician/ liar for an MEC chairman. Maybe with some luck, his days are numbered too.

Is labor really on board in this merger of equals? Please see an opinion of a Continental pilot on the News page.

When and "if" our union decides to publish individual sections of the JCBA, we will publish them on the Merger page. We collectively shouldn't hold our breath. Our union likes to work in the dark. A resolution was passed at the LEC 170 meeting for the pilots to see the completed contract for no less than 2 weeks before the vote. We would personally like to see a longer period. Let's see if the entire MEC will pass this resolution at the next meeting.

JAY PIERCE, CALALPA MEC CHAIRMAN:
HIS ANTI- UNION PAST IS REVEALED!

This story is very telling about our current MEC chairman. You decide
for yourself.

"Head of the CALEX training dept said to her that he noticed that she did not bring in the union. She said "well, yes,"
knowing
it didn`t matter. Head of the training dept replied "well you are lucky, because if you did, I would
have fired you on the spot."

Take it for what it is worth. I never heard this story until said head of the training dept was appointed MEC Chairman
at CALALPA..... Read the complete letter on the News and Commentary page.

Retired Pilots sue CAL over DB Pension Plan...

Please review the lawsuit documents on "Your Retirement" page. If you feel this lawsuit affects you, please contact the law firm handling the case. Some pilots who are retiring now are finding they are being short changed.

We have obtained documents from another lawsuit filed by a retired CAL pilot accusing Continental Airlines of possible discrimination regarding ERW payments to a retired pilot. These documents are now posted on "Your retirement". Were you in a similar situation?  Please review this section.

A quote From Jay Pierce's CAL MEC weekly update: June 5, 2010

"Finally, I wanted to tell you that I have been asked to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s Subcommittee on Aviation regarding the proposed Continental – United Merger and the possible effects for consumers and industry on June 16th 2010. I am excited to accept the invitation and look forward offering the labor, and specifically pilot labor, perspective on this merger."

Please read a pilot response on the News page under "Commentary and Editorials.

SaveCALPilots is a website started by Continental pilots, initially for Continental pilots. It is supported solely through the donations of concerned Continental pilots who want an independent view of current events and a free flow of information. There are many issues that we as Continental and United pilots need to be informed about. The purpose of this site is to provide a trusted source of information for Continental and United pilots. This information will help in making sound decisions about our future in the new United Airlines.

This site is available to all Continental and United pilots.   There are no limitations on who has access at this time. All materials for submission will be subject to review by the website administrator prior to posting. We are interested in posting truthful, timely articles and opinions by Continental and United pilots which will be useful to the entire pilot group.   Once again, this service is free.

The Continental and United pilot group is a very hard working, dedicated, and safe pilot work force. The FAA recognizes this, and so does the traveling public. All of our pilots have sacrificed so much over the years for the preservation of Continental and United Airlines.  We have seen CEO’s come and go through the revolving door. They always walk away with millions of dollars. This is money the company could have used on the preservation of our pilot work force. After all the sacrifice, we are the ones who are left holding the bag. We have seen our union operate behind locked doors, only to emerge with a less than acceptable agreements. Agreements that seem to slip by the membership without discussion or input from the membership. The union continues to use the blind trust of this pilot group because they can. When are we going to say enough is enough? Now is the time. Now that the merger with United has been announced, they will have to merge the lists. Our union will negotiate a joint collective bargaining agreement. Many of you have been speculating on the outcome. Will this pilot group get a fair shake? Will we walk away without any improvements to contract 02? Without our voice, we will end up, once again with the short end of the stick. Please stay tuned, stay informed, and stay involved. Feel free to voice your opinion. We are here to help the cause. We look forward to hearing from our pilot group.
